York Pet Sitters - Meet The Team

Rachael Towers

A qualified nurse for 18 years Rachael Towers has lived with

animals since childhood and always wanted to work with them.

If you are a shift worker, work long hours or simply feel you

don’t have time, York Pet Sitters is the answer. Of course you

also have holidays and short breaks, and there may be times

when your family need you more. York Pet Sitters will be there

to help.

Rachael provides a top class service dedicated to keeping animals (and humans) happy.  Her services include dog walking, holiday dog care and puppy sitting services. She also provides cat sitting and care for rabbits, guinea pigs, rodents, reptiles, birds, fish and many other domestic pets. Rachael can also take animals to the vets if you need the help. It’s all part of the York Pet Sitters service.

As well as having a husband and two children, Rachael shares her life with a gorgeous rescue Lurcher called Blue, a handsome recue Staffie called Bruce and a very cheeky ginger tabby called Forrest who rules the roost!!  With York Pet Sitters she feels she has found the perfect way to help animals and their owners cope with busy modern lifestyles.

“I know from experience that the best place for animals to be cared for is in their own surroundings,” says Rachael.

“Animals give us so much. Their love is unconditional. They are loyal and are always there for us when we need a friend. I am dedicated to ensuring they are safe and comfortable whatever the circumstances.”

**Rachael attended and passed a Pet First Aid Training Course on 22/3/14 (through Animal Aiders) and carries a full First Aid kit in her vehicle at all times.

Linda

Hi my name is Linda, I have always loved all animals. I live with my wife Jan and our 6 rescue pets - 3 beautiful dogs, Barney, Margot and Niall and 3 gorgeous cats Robbie, Julian and Cole, they are the centre of our lives.

Many years ago I was an Animal Nurse at the Harmsworth RSPCA animal hospital in London. After moving to York I became a mobile dog groomer for a number of years whilst my daughter Rachel was younger.

I absolutely love working for York Petsitters as this really is my ideal job, what’s not to love about caring for animals.

Hazel

Growing up with animals to look after in the family home made me realise from a young age that I wanted to have a career with them.

After studying animals for five years I graduated with a Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Animal Management. Some of the areas i studied include Health, Behaviour, Training, Enrichment, Welfare and Legislation. I have had hands on experience with Domestic, Farm and Exotic animals as well as Reptiles,Rodents and Birds.

Whilst studying, I walked dogs voluntarily for the RSPCA, worked in a Veterinary Practice for two years, assisting with pre and post operational care, and carried out work placements at a cattery and at Cats Protection Adoption Centre in which I helped to socialise and prepare cats for re-homing.

I have a certificate in First Aid Personal Safety and Awareness, a Distinction award in Customer Care and i have recently attended an Animal Aider Dog First Aid and Training course which allows me to carry out any emergency care needed before veterinary attention is given.

I have previously owned Cats, Guinea Pigs, Tropical and Coldwater Fish and help care for Rabbits and Dogs in the family.

"My aim as a Pet Sitter is to ensure your animal receives quality care and attention. I feel privileged being able to spend every day with animals and getting to know their individual personalities."

Sally

My name is Sally and i've been lucky enough to work with York Pet Sitters since 2018.

I have always adored animals right from being a child.  Having been a pet owner myself I fully understand just how much of the family they become and how much love we share with them. The types of pet I have owned include Guinea Pigs, Hamsters, a wide variety of Tropical and Coldwater fish, and two beautiful cats named Harold and Ginger. I have also helped to to look after the dogs within my family.

As well as caring for my own pets, I have always been interested in good animal welfare standards and continue to support animal charities such as the RSPCA and Cats Protection. My own cats had been rescues themselves.

I am a reliable person and having previously worked within a health care environment I have good customer care standards and will always treat your animals with compassion.

While working with York Pet Sitters I have made many animal friends and have loved looking after cats within their own homes, providing dog care including taking them out for walks, and careing for small animals and Aquarium fish. Being a wildlife lover I have also enjoyed feeding garden wildlife including Hedgehogs and garden birds when requested.

I take the responsibility of looking after your pet very seriously and take pride in the care we give them. I have used Pet Sitting services myself and from my own experience believe that animals definately prefer to be cared for in their own home environment.  Animals give us so much unconditional love and I find it very rewarding being able to look after them.
