A qualified nurse for 18 years Rachael Towers has lived with
animals since childhood and always wanted to work with them.
If you are a shift worker, work long hours or simply feel you
don’t have time, York Pet Sitters is the answer. Of course you
also have holidays and short breaks, and there may be times
when your family need you more. York Pet Sitters will be there
Rachael provides a top class service dedicated to keeping animals (and humans) happy. Her services include dog walking, holiday dog care and puppy sitting services. She also provides cat sitting and care for rabbits, guinea pigs, rodents, reptiles, birds, fish and many other domestic pets. Rachael can also take animals to the vets if you need the help. It’s all part of the York Pet Sitters service.
As well as having a husband and two children, Rachael shares her life with a rescued greyhound (Speed), a feisty cat (Pickle), Barney the rabbit, Tilly the rat, and three goldfish. With York Pet Sitters she feels she has found the perfect way to help animals and their owners cope with busy modern lifestyles.
“I know from experience that the best place for animals to be cared for is in their own surroundings,” says Rachael.
“Animals give us so much. Their love is unconditional. They are loyal and are always there for us when we need a friend. I am dedicated to ensuring they are safe and comfortable whatever the circumstances.”
**Rachael attended and passed a Pet First Aid Training Course on 22/3/14 (through Animal Aiders) and carries a full First Aid kit in her vehicle at all times.
I'm Rachael's husband and I joined York Petsitters in 2013.
In the 20 years we have been together, animals of all shapes and sizes have played a big part in our lives.
Now I see new friends every day, from dogs and cats to chickens, dagues and rabbits.
Having worked for many companies in York and elsewhere I understand the challenges of working and the implications that shift patterns and anti-social hours can have for animal care.
Naturally fit and active, I thrive on my ability to help animals and their owners through dog walking, puppy sitting, looking after cats, and generally helping out whatever the owner's needs.
York Petsitters is here to help. If your dog needs a walk, your cat needs feeding, or you have other animal care requirements, I look forward to meeting you.
Growing up with animals to look after in the family home made me realise from a young age that I wanted to have a career working with them.
After studying animals for five years I graduated with a Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Animal Management. Some of the areas i studied include Health, Behaviour, Training, Enrichment, Welfare and Legislation. I have had hands on experience with Domestic, Farm and Exotic animals as well as Reptiles,Rodents and Birds.
Whilst studying, I walked dogs voluntarily for the RSPCA, worked in a Veterinary Practice for two years, assisting with pre and post operational care, and carried out work placements at a cattery and at Cats Protection Adoption Centre in which I helped to socialise and prepare cats for re-homing,some of those who i now take care of in their new home, which is very rewarding.
I have a certificate in First Aid Personal Safety and Awareness, a Distinction award in Customer Care and i have recently attended an Animal Aider Dog First Aid and Training course which allows me to carry out any emergency care needed before veterinary attention is given.
I have previously owned Cats, Guinea Pigs, Tropical and Coldwater Fish and help care for Rabbits and Dogs in the family. I share my home with two cheeky Guinea Pigs, Willow and Blossom.
My aim is to make your animal feel comfortable and to give them the care and attention that I would want my own to receive. Animals are not just our pets, they are part of the family.
